The DACDC Food Program is dedicated to serving our community by providing essential groceries to families in need. In partnership with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Costco, Sprouts, Amazon Fresh, Ralphs, and Food 4 Less, we distribute food to an average of 300 families each week, ensuring they receive a full week’s worth of groceries.
Everyone is welcome—come as you are, and let us help provide for you and your family!
Our food giveaways are completely free and open to everyone in need. Here’s how it works:
Before a client is welcomed into a class or program, they will first undergo an intake process. This in-person intake process aims to evaluate the client’s unique needs and set them up for success. As a fundamental part of our classes and programs, the intake process allows our staff to collect and analyze key information about the client and devise an approach tailored to their specific needs. We offer both fatherhood and motherhood classes on a weekly basis. We understand the cultural needs of the community that we serve and strive to ensure that each client understands what it actually means to be an effective parent. Our goal is to reunite families and to remove barriers that hinder a strong family structure.
Ofrecemos clases de paternidad y maternidad semanales. Entendemos las necesidades culturales de la comunidad a la que servimos y nos esforzamos por asegurarnos de que cada cliente comprenda lo que realmente significa ser un padre eficaz. Nuestro objetivo es reunir a las familias y eliminar las barreras que impiden una estructura familiar sólida.
Thriving Dads offers support to fathers, father figures, and fathers-to-be throughout L.A. County. All meetings and classes are offered at no cost to participants. In person meetings include dinner and childcare (if needed). Some class topics include, Family History Roots: My father and me, Self Nurturing, The World of Feelings, Leading Without Violence and Fear, Role Modeling, and Healing the Fatherhood Wound. This program also assists with case management support, monthly activities and links to services and resources.
Thriving Dads ofrece apoyo a padres, figuras paternas y futuros padres en todo el condado de L.A. Todas las reuniones y clases se ofrecen sin costo para los participantes. Las reuniones presenciales incluyen cena y cuidado de niños (si es necesario). Algunos temas de las clases incluyen, Raíces de la historia familiar: Mi padre y yo, Autocuidado (o Nutrición personal), El mundo de los sentimientos, Liderar sin violencia y miedo, Servir de modelo (o Modelado de roles), y Sanar la herida de la paternidad. Este programa también ayuda con apoyo de gestión de casos, actividades mensuales y enlaces a servicios y recursos.
A 12-week course held on-site that introduces the mothers into a nurturing lifestyle with her infant/toddler and adolescent teenagers addressing social needs, physical needs, intellectual needs, creative needs, emotional needs and spiritual needs to a happy healthy household. This course introduces the mothers with the appropriate expectations of the various ages when developing, helping the child to deal and understand his/her feeling, self-worth with discipline and rules, moral and values, rewards and punishments as well as meeting her own needs.
Un curso de 12 semanas que se lleva a cabo de forma presencial y que introduce a las madres a un estilo de vida enriquecedor con sus bebés/niños pequeños y adolescentes, abordando las necesidades sociales, físicas, intelectuales, creativas, emocionales y espirituales para un hogar feliz y saludable. Este curso presenta a las madres las expectativas apropiadas de las diversas edades a medida que sus hijos se desarrollan, ayudando al niño a manejar y comprender sus sentimientos, la autoestima con disciplina y reglas, la moral y los valores, las recompensas y los castigos, además de satisfacer sus propias necesidades.
Our anger management classes are designed to help you recognize the signs of anger, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and communicate your feelings in a non-violent manner. Our certified anger management instructors are experienced professionals who are committed to providing personalized guidance and support to each client. They understand that anger manifests differently in each individual, and they tailor their approach to meet the unique needs of each participant.
Nuestras clases de manejo de la ira están diseñadas para ayudarle a reconocer las señales de la ira, desarrollar mecanismos de afrontamiento saludables y comunicar sus sentimientos de manera no violenta. Nuestros instructores certificados en manejo de la ira son profesionales con experiencia que están comprometidos a brindar orientación y apoyo personalizados a cada cliente. Entienden que la ira se manifiesta de manera diferente en cada individuo, y adaptan su enfoque para satisfacer las necesidades únicas de cada participante.
We offer both batterer’s intervention and survivors’ classes. In our classes, we cover topics such as person-directed violence, emotional intelligence, power and control, and much more. Our goal is to teach batterers different ways to deal with their emotions and understand the impact their violence has had on their victims. We strive to create a safe space for victims and provide them with an outlet to share their experiences during the healing process.
Ofrecemos clases tanto de intervención para agresores como para sobrevivientes. En nuestras clases, cubrimos temas como la violencia dirigida a personas, la inteligencia emocional, el poder y el control, y mucho más. Nuestro objetivo es enseñar a los agresores diferentes maneras de manejar sus emociones y comprender el impacto que su violencia ha tenido en sus víctimas. Nos esforzamos por crear un espacio seguro para las víctimas y brindarles una vía para compartir sus experiencias durante el proceso de curación.
A 12-week blended (on-site/Zoom) course that examines the introduction, curiosity, and prescriptions that are fine lines leading to the abuse and misuse of illicit behavior. This course comprises three major parts: (1) identifying personal triggers, (2) employing tools and techniques to address those triggers (people, places, and things), and (3) relapse prevention. Students will be guided to consider the different types of feelings and experiences that have associated them with drinking or drug use. They will be encouraged to explore different ways to identify and avoid their personal triggers, fostering a successful journey to sobriety and stability.
Un curso combinado (presencial/Zoom) de 12 semanas que examina la introducción, la curiosidad y las prescripciones que son líneas muy finas que conducen al abuso y uso indebido de comportamientos ilícitos. Este curso consta de tres partes principales: (1) identificación de detonantes personales (o disparadores personales), (2) empleo de herramientas y técnicas para abordar esos detonantes (personas, lugares y cosas), y (3) prevención de recaídas. Se guiará a los estudiantes para que consideren los diferentes tipos de sentimientos y experiencias que los han asociado con el consumo de alcohol o drogas. Se les alentará a explorar diferentes formas de identificar y evitar sus detonantes personales, fomentando un viaje exitoso hacia la sobriedad y la estabilidad.
Individual counseling is a service provided by a professional LCSW for the benefit of court ordered individuals to address their ongoing case issues. Counseling will be over a course of three Intake sessions and 12 individual sessions. Client will be seen weekly where they will address such issues as Domestic Violence, Anger Management, Substance Abuse, Parenting, and Personal Growth and Development and Safety. The primary goal is to help the clients to enhance their communication skills, learn to problem solve, goal setting and introduce coping techniques such as self-talk and visualization. It is the hope that after completion of counseling, the individuals will have learned how to effectively manage stress, interpersonal difficulties and troubling situations.
La consejería individual es un servicio proporcionado por un/a profesional LCSW (Trabajador/a Social Clínico/a Licenciado/a) para el beneficio de personas con orden judicial para abordar los problemas de su caso en curso. La consejería se llevará a cabo a lo largo de tres sesiones de admisión (o entrevista inicial) y 12 sesiones individuales. El cliente será atendido semanalmente, donde abordará temas como violencia doméstica, manejo de la ira, abuso de sustancias, paternidad/maternidad (o crianza), y crecimiento y desarrollo personal y seguridad. El objetivo principal es ayudar a los clientes a mejorar sus habilidades de comunicación, aprender a resolver problemas, establecer metas e introducir técnicas de afrontamiento como el diálogo interno (self-talk) y la visualización. Se espera que después de completar la consejería, las personas hayan aprendido a gestionar eficazmente el estrés, las dificultades interpersonales y las situaciones problemáticas.

They serve as a crucial bridge between families and the Department of Social Services (DSS). By working directly with families and social workers, Cultural Brokers are committed to improving communication and building trust to achieve the best possible outcomes.
